This is good stuff. Taught, well written. How do you keep putting out this quantity and quality?

Is a group of ravens really called a conspiracy? If not that’s a fantastic description

They are! They’re also called an unkindness

No kidding. Owls get "parliament", crows get "murder", but ravens get "conspiracy and unkindness"? Jeez.

This is so eerie! I can’t wait to see where this is going! And I’m curious if Rapunzel plays a thematic role. 😊

Oh god - I'm stupidly reading this quite late at night!

I always find animal killings and/or hybrids the creepiest thing ever and I'm extremely nervous but completely compelled to find out what happens!

One deer dead is understandable. Ten is overkill and waste of meat. Something really wanted those animals dead.

Bite Marks that don't look right? Kind of like Were wolf or Were Hyena's? That could get interesting.

So worth the wait! I’m getting vampire vibes from this whole they’ve been here for a long time thing from the foot in each camp townie dude, the rosary, and ravens (hyena-laugh-bird is seriously creepy stuff). Stabbing wounds is a good bit of distraction if this does turn out to be vampires! The Grimm’s Fairy Tales bit was cool characterization, well done with that. I’m super curious why he thinks his Mom has hidden it, but I’m likely over-fixating on a detail that’s not the point of the story :D

So glad you enjoyed! 😊 And no worries about the question! These comments make me excited to post each week.

Luke struggles with hyper fixation after coming back from tour in the Middle East--his mom probably hid it to help him.

This is so terrifyingly atmospheric, I'm getting shivers just reading it! Especially the raven laughing like a hyena... I'm now wondering.. raven-people? Or are the ravens just hangers-on for the werewolves that may still be lurking up there? Aaaaaagh the suspense!!
