Very interesting. Got my attention and held onto it. I like the subtle clues about the town of Evening. And having the line go dead as he asks the wrong question? Genius.

Agree…and subtle enough as to bring it into normal reality. Phone service has a tendency to drop a line in the sticks. Can’t wait for Evening visit.

Yah, the EPD sounds suspicious to me. Only shady people don't answer questions, especially if it's law to law. There is a small thing called professional courtesy.
