September Update
housekeeping and Ynsyfall
Good morning and happy Monday, everyone!
I’m really excited for the month and I hope you are too. Let’s go over some personal thoughts on writing as well as applaud our Ynysfall authors!
I think we as writers often fall into this rut where we believe that life must be ordered a particular way in order to… well, write. As I’ve discovered, however, life doesn’t get any less busy. The to-do lists increase in time with the steady rolling of years. University turns into the hunt for a career, love begets children, family members rely on us, and the world’s pace increases.
In short, I believe that making time to write is the only way forward. I need to learn this lesson over and over again. I want to throw caution to the wind and show you guys what I’ve got.
Let’s start with why I write—or why I read.
When I was young, I struggled in school. My family moved often and changing schools often proved difficult for me. I remember coming home from a bad day. I went right under my bed and opened up The Edge Chronicles (R.I.P. Banderbear… I still get teary-eyed about it). The world fell away and I was transported somewhere different. I connected with the feelings of the characters and suddenly felt less alone.
It is my hope that something I write can give that same sanctuary to others. My Shades of Night series is my attempt to create a world that people feel they can escape to when they need it. All this to say that I intend to bring that little series back—short stories from the world I’m building.
This is why Ynysfall is so fun! Connecting with readers and writers in (almost) real time has been such a wonderful experience.
Now, I’d like to move into a second phase. We’ve built so much! Let’s start threading the pieces, so to speak. In the next few weeks, I’d love to see a stronger threading of the characters and places that our amazing writers have created.
With that said, here is an exhaustive list of some extremely talented contributors.

I’d like to extend a warm thank you by offering my graphic design services to everyone on this list. For the low, low price of free, you can commission a single cover for your personal work! If you’d like to take me up on the offer, just send me a DM.

It's been great fun participating in Ynysfall - thank you for setting it up! 😄
Thank you so much for setting this up, Maya. I'm very excited to see what the future brings.
