I hope Luke brought a stake, some garlic, and/or a cross with him because I have a definite sense he's going to need it.

He did bring a cross!

Oh, wait, he did! You're right; I'd forgotten! Well, good, he should be covered. :)

This is going in a very Gothic direction in the best way. I look forward to this every Monday!

Yay! I’m glad you’re enjoying :)

There's something very, very suspicious about a Gothic mansion in the middle of nowhere, Montana. Something tells me they're not going to let Luke leave.

Just a small quibble, but the lady didn't actually introduce herself before the narrative started using her name.

Ah! thank you so much for drawing that to my attention.

Edit: fixed!

No worries! I'd want someone to tell me too.

I like the diversity of verbs you choose to use in this story. Sorry I’m so far behind. 😊

That escalated quickly!

"Upon the walls were paintings of ravens: in flight, in flocks, sitting on branches."

Uh-oh... the family portraits?

Beyond, was a building that Luke could only describe as midway between a mansion and a castle

I can just picture the place. A mansion surrounded by tall walls with battlements. It might or might not have towers in the corners. Around the Mansion is where a garden or lawn would be.

Inside are tall hallways with pictures and other objects. In one wing, there is probably a library.

Yes, i can almost see this place.
